FOR PRESIDENT-ELECT
Get to know Hardeep Grover and Sadina
Montani, the two candidates running for president-elect
of the D.C. Bar for the 2024-2025 term.
Grover is principal attorney at CapEx Legal and
past president of the South Asian Bar Association
of the District of Columbia. His past involvement
with the D.C. Bar includes serving as member of
the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Committee and as chair
of the D.C. Bar Arts, Entertainment, Media and
Sports Law Community.
Sadina Montani, a Crowell & Moring LLP partner
focused on labor and employment law, was president
of the Women's Bar Association of the District
of Columbia from 2020 to 2021 and has

served on several D.C. Bar committees, notably as
chair of the Nominations Committee in 2015.
The D.C. Bar general and Communities elections
are now underway. Voting closes June 4.

LOCAL YOUTH GAIN INSIGHT
INTO CAREERS IN LAW
On March 16 the D.C. Bar Communities and D.C.
Superior Court hosted the 25th annual Melvin
R. Wright Youth Law Fair, drawing a hundred middle
and high school students from the Washington,
D.C., area. The in-person event at the court
focused on the issue of carjacking, with participants
acting as judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys,
witnesses, jurors, and defendants during
the mock trial sessions.

GEORGETOWN WINS D.C. CUP
MOOT COURT COMPETITION
Georgetown University Law Center students Tyler
Viljaste and Juli Dajci prevailed over five other
law school teams to win the 2024 D.C. Cup Moot
Court Competition on February 23. Catholic University
of America Columbus School of Law's
Gerald Sharpe won best oralist, while American
University Washington College of Law took home
the best brief award. In the final round, held
at the D.C. Court of Appeals, the teams from
Georgetown
and Catholic
argued a case
questioning
a gun manufacturer's
liability
in the
wake of a fictional
school
shooting.
