MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Harrison adds that one of the most fulfilling
parts of her career has been working at a law
firm that has collaborated with groups like the
ACLU, Lambda, and GLBTQ Legal Advocates &
Defenders.
NOT YOUR REGULAR
MANAGING PARTNER
Harrison's story is not just about her achievements
in law but also about how she has used
her position to empower others, advocate for
justice, and promote authenticity. Aligning her
leadership style with the firm's ethos, Harrison
says she is committed to fostering a down-toearth
culture among staff.
Her secret to running a successful law firm?
Making people feel valued. " I'm a hugger, "
Harrison says.
Among her many initiatives is " Lindsay Lunches, "
where anyone at the firm can take any colleague
out to lunch on the company dime to
foster relationships and support local businesses.
She also established a lending library and
book club at the firm, promoting continuous
learning and engagement.
Taking a page out of the film Mean Girls, she
jokes, " I'm not a regular managing partner; I'm
a 'cool' managing partner, but yeah, 'cool' is
definitely in quotes. "
So, what does her book collection reveal about
her? " My book collection would make you think
that I have a lot more free time than I do - so
many books waiting to be read whenever I retire! "
Harrison says. " I do get to read some for
fun, though, and the books I enjoyed most in
2023 were Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow
and Lessons in Chemistry for fiction, and
The Rediscovery of America for nonfiction. "
And when she does find some free time, Harrison
indulges in simple pleasures such as cooking,
participating in a book club, and watching
baseball - activities that provide a counterbalance
to her intense professional commitments.
In her vigorous pursuit for justice, what is the
best way to beat her in court? " The best strategy
is to settle because they won't win in court, "
she remarks wryly, adding that she hopes her
adversaries nevertheless find her collegial, reasonable,
and honest.
