VENABLE DONATES $50K
IN MEMORY OF SEN. BAYH

The Venable Foundation Inc., the philanthropic arm of Venable LLP, donated
$50,000 to local service organization So Others Might Eat (SOME) in memory
of Birch Bayh, a former U.S. senator and firm partner known for his dedication
to public service. The contribution was presented by Bayh's wife, Kitty, and son
Christoper (third and fourth from left, respectively) on July 10 at a ceremony
held at Venable's Washington, D.C., office.

HISPANIC BAR HOSTS
IP LAW INSTITUTE

The Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) hosted its Intellectual Property
Law Institute on June 1 to 7 in Washington, D.C., with the goal of helping to
increase Latino representation in the field of IP law. Highlights of the event
included a tour of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and a
meeting with Chief Judge Sharon Prost (second from left) and Judge Jimmie
V. Reyna (center). Attendees, selected from law schools across the United States,
also benefited from workshops, classes, and briefings.

BAR EXECS GATHER IN SF
FOR NABE ANNUAL MEETING

The National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) held its annual meeting
on August 6 to 8 in San Francisco under the theme "The Summer of Love
Your Bar - Inspire, Energize, Empower." Representatives from the D.C. Bar
present at the NABE meeting included Chief Executive Officer Robert J.
Spagnoletti, Chief Programs Officer Darrin Sobin, and Communities Director
Candace Smith-Tucker, pictured here (center) with colleagues from the
South Carolina Bar and the State Bar of Georgia.
