D.C. BAR PRO BONO INITIATIVE D.C. Law Firms Contributed Almost 1 Million Pro Bono Hours in 2018! Last year, D.C. Bar Pro Bono Initiative Signatory Firms devoted 967,626 hours to pro bono service - a record-breaking achievement. Since 2001, the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Initiative has encouraged the District's law firms to commit to pro bono legal services at specified levels and track their progress in an annual survey submitted to the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center. "Lawyers in D.C. are more dedicated to pro bono service than lawyers anywhere else in the country," says D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center Executive Director Rebecca K. Troth.
