MEMBER SPOTLIGHT The Unstoppable ROY ENGLERT Sr. By John Murph " Don't read your press clippings." That's the mantra that 97-year-old D.C. Bar member Roy Englert Sr. has lived by, which explains his reluctance to talk about his career or his many achievements, including clinching the world records in 2019 for the 800-meter, 1,500-meter, and 3,000-meter races in the men's 95-to-99 age group. He is also this year's recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Service in the U.S. Navy during World War II gave Roy Englert Sr. an enduring sense of discipline, which serves him well as he continues to clinch running records at age 97.
