1. India built a 750-km wall along its border with Pakistan.
2. India constructed a 2,700-km fence around Bangladesh.
3. The Korean Demilitarized Zone between the two Koreas runs
250 km long.
4. A wall divides the island of Cyprus and its capital Nicosia between
its Turkish and Greek halves.
5. A 2,700-km sand wall in the Western Sahara is largely under the
control of Morocco, protecting its interests against Polisario rebels.
6. In North Africa, the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla in
Morocco have been protected with fences, each roughly 10 km
long, since 1995.
7. Israel has put in place 712 km of security barriers along the edge
of the West Bank.
8. Greece built an 11-km fence along its border with Turkey.
9. In 2014 Saudi Arabia added a 900-km fence to an existing sand
embankment on the Iraqi border.
10. Along its border with Turkey, Bulgaria started constructing
a 166-km barrier in 2014.
11. Hungary has built a 175-km fence along its border with Serbia
and a second border fence (about 300 km) separating it from
Croatia.
12. Slovenia has put up 200 km of barriers along its border with
Croatia.
13. Austria built a 3.7-km barrier along its border with Slovenia.
14. Macedonia built a 33-km fence along its border with Greece.
15. A 1.6-km wall was built by the United Kingdom in France to
keep migrants from trying to cross the Channel Tunnel from
Calais to Britain.
16. The United States has erected 1,052 km in barbed wire, chain
link, post-and-rail, and wire mesh fencing along its border with
Mexico.
17. The United States built a 28-km fence surrounding the
Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba in 1958.
