Where the law intersects with culture & lifestyle
By John Murph
RBG TAKES
HOLLYWOOD
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's
ascendance into the living-legend stratosphere
continues. In the new biopic On the Basis of Sex,
directed by Mimi Leder and scripted by Ginsburg's
nephew Daniel Stiepleman, Felicity Jones stars as
a young Ginsburg facing down sexism during her
formative years at Harvard Law School and upon
entry into New York City's legal landscape. The
movie chronicles her landmark role in the 1972
Moritz v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue decision.
TUNE IN TO A NEW
LEGAL DRAMA
In Fox TV's Proven Innocent, Rachelle Lefevre stars
as Madeline Scott - an ex-con turned attorney
- who leads a team of young lawyers in defending
individuals who, like her, were wrongly convicted
of heinous crimes. Created by David Elliot (Four
Brothers) and Danny Strong (Empire), the new legal
drama also stars Kelsey Grammer, Riley Smith, Nikki
M. James, and Russell Hornsby.

unlikely accessory-to-murder suspect, who also
happens to be a longtime assistant? This is the
