& OUTGOING LEADERS
On June 24 the D.C. Bar held its Presidents Reception
and Celebration of Leadership virtually for the
second year in a row. High lights included recognition
of the Bar's 2021 Annual Award winners for
their extraordinary achievements and the swearingin
of Chad T. Sarchio as the Bar's 50th president.
The event also welcomed President-Elect Ellen
M. Jakovic of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.

ROLLER COASTER EVOLUTION
Clio's 2020 Legal Trends Report showed that 95
percent of respondents support electronic documents
and signatures and 83 percent support
meeting clients through videoconferencing, among
other findings. As Clio CEO Jack Newton put it, the
legal industry " moved 10 years into the future in
10 weeks " due to the pandemic. On June 17
Sensei Enterprises' Sharon Nelson and John Simek
provided a data-driven look at the sea change in
lawyers' tech adaptation and a glimpse of what
is likely on the horizon for the legal industry. The
Lunch and Learn program was presented by the
D.C. Bar's Practice Management Advisory Service.

UNLEASHING THE POLITICAL
POWER OF WOMEN ATTORNEYS
On July 23 and 30 the D.C. Bar Communities will
hold its first-ever Legislative Women's Collective
addressing the gender gap in politics. The virtual
event will help participants develop a roadmap
to reach their individual political goals and
prepare for the unique ethical requirements of
running for office as a practicing attorney.

COMMUNITIES OFFICE HOSTS
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION SUMMIT
The D.C. Bar Communities held its first Diversity,
Equity, and Inclusion Summit on June 4 to elevate
awareness, foster greater community engagement,
and encourage individual reflection. Keynote
speaker Bart Bailey, owner and principal consultant
of Courage to Care, LLC, discussed how to develop
an inclusive workplace culture through communication
skill building and open dialogue.
