WASHINGTON LAWYER WINS
SECOND LUMINARY AWARD
The D.C. Bar's flagship publication has won a
Luminary Award (regular publications category)
from the National Association of Bar Executives
(NABE). Announced at the NABE Communication
Section's annual workshop on October 14, the
award is the second Luminary for the D.C. Bar, which
also won in 2019. More than 30 bars submitted their
publications and projects for consideration.
WCL HONORS FORMER BAR
PRESIDENT SUSIE HOFFMAN
Susie M. Hoffman, public service partner at Crowell
& Moring LLP and former D.C. Bar president (2019-
2020), received the Washington Council of Lawyers'
Presidents Award for Public Service on December 2.
The WCL's annual awards ceremony honors exceptional
lawyers and law firms in the District that
have dedicated their time and talent to pro bono
service, public interest law, and the advancement
of access to justice.

YAIDA FORD APPOINTED TO JNC
The D.C. Bar Board of Governors has appointed
Yaida O. Ford, principal of Ford Law Pros, P.C., to
the District of Columbia Judicial Nomination Commission
for a six-year term ending on January 1,
2028. In making the appointment, the Board cited
Ford's " significant experience with our local court
system, dedication to the D.C. Bar, and commitment
to ensuring that we have highly qualified judges "
serving on the D.C. Courts. In her practice, Ford
represents clients in civil rights cases, employment
law matters, and real estate disputes in both federal
and state courts.

BAR PICKS UDC'S AKEEM EARLE
AS 2022 WRITER IN RESIDENCE
The D.C. Bar has selected Akeem Earle, a 4L at
the University of the District of Columbia David
A. Clarke School of Law, as its 2022 Writer in Residence.
Earle will work alongside D.C. Bar staff
writers and editors during the duration of the residency
to produce content for Washington Lawyer
and the Bar's website. The Writers in Residence
Program, now in its second year, is a collaboration
between the D.C. Bar's Communities Office and
Communications Department.
