ABA DELEGATE'S CORNER
Diverse Resources
for Your Practice
By Robert N. Weiner
T
he ABA continues to educate
and inspire with an astonishing
amount of diverse programing
for members.
Consider, for example, the many
events and programs offered
during one two-week period this
past fall.
Focusing on gender issues, the ABA invited
Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines to
speak at a webinar sponsored by the Women
in National Security Law, a group emerging
out of the ABA Standing Committee on Law
and National Security. Other gender-related
programs included " Domestic Violence &
Economic Paths to Safety: The Credit Union
Model of Support " and the timely webinar " Sex
Discrimination & Sex Abuse in the Workplace,
School, and Sports. "
For small firm and solo practitioners, the ABA
offered " Back to Black: How to Attain Zero A/R, "
" An Ethical Cybersecurity Playbook for the New
Normal in Law Practice, " and " The Ultimate
Playbook: Building Your Business Without
Breaking Ethics Rules. "
There was a wide variety of events focused on
different areas of legal practice, from consumer
financial services and the Employee Retirement
Income Security Act to white-collar crime,
dispute resolution in construction cases, and
aviation litigation. And several programs dealt
with hot issues in the law and legal practice,
such as " Artificial Intelligence and the Law:
Overview, Limits, Discovery, and Admissibility "
and " Spanning the Divide: Examining Mass
Migration From Central America and Mexico
Through the Lens of the Film A Bridge Apart. "
Some webinars were intensely practical, such
as " Legal Writing Resiliency: Giving and Taking
Feedback (From Others and Yourself), " " Living
With a Disability in the Profession, " " Defending
a Private Class Action Price-Fixing Lawsuit, " and
" Mediation Advocacy: What Litigators Need to
Know. " Some had a significant public interest
component, including " A Call for Pro Bono:
Advancing the Rule of Law " and " Family Law
and Military Families. " No matter the program,
all offered diverse panels packed with experts
on the subjects being discussed, and many
were free to ABA members.
These offerings are just a sample of recent ABA
programming. The rich diversity of courses
continues week after week throughout the
year. If your interest area is not covered, keep
checking the ABA's website. You are likely to
find something of value.

ABA or are interested in getting involved, feel
