A ttorney Margaret Cassidy dreamed of launching her own business. In her career as a district attorney, and later as in-house counsel, she enjoyed her work but contemplated taking a different path. Her brother suggested that she start a law firm. Inspired by the idea, Cassidy started doing her research while still working in-house and discovered Basic Training & Beyond, a free two-part seminar offered by the D.C. Bar Practice Management Advisory Service (PMAS). She attended the training and left so impressed that she signed up for the course again.
