CAPPING DECADES
OF SERVICE
In June D.C. Bar Chief Programs Officer Cynthia Hill and
Chief Executive Officer Katherine A. Mazzaferri, both
longtime members of the Bar's leadership team,
announced that they would be retiring next year.

WE HEAR YOU,
NORTHERN VIRGINIA
The Bar continues its multi-city networking and listening
tour known as the BARometer. This time, the Bar
connected with members in Arlington, Virginia, just
outside the nation's capital. The event was established
to better connect and engage with Bar members.

CELEBRATION
OF LEADERSHIP
At the D.C. Bar's 2016 Celebration of Leadership,
Annamaria Steward takes the oath of office as the
Bar's 45th president.
Mary E. McLeod, whose government career spans
nearly 40 years, receives the Beatrice Rosenberg Award
for Excellence in Government Service.
Avis E. Buchanan, the Justice Thurgood Marshall Award
honoree, shares tales of dedication at the Public Defender
Service for the District of Columbia.
Jeffrey M. Sherman, co-recipient of the Laura N. Rinaldi
Pro Bono Lawyer Award, poses with Tim Webster,
immediate past president of the Bar.

PRESIDENTS'
RECEPTION
The D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center held its Presidents'
Reception, welcoming the incoming president and
raising money for the Center's programs. Monika K.
Varma, executive director of the Center, recently was
honored with the Public Interest Achievement Award
by the South Asian Bar Association.
