BAR TAPS SPAGNOLETTI
AS NEW CEO
The D.C. Bar has named Robert J. Spagnoletti, a former attorney
general for the District of Columbia and a former Bar president, as its
new CEO. Spagnoletti was a partner at Schertler & Onorato, LLP,
where he developed litigation strategies for clients in criminal, civil,
and domestic cases. Spagnoletti assumed the CEO post on May 1.

WILLIAMSON REMEMBERED
FOR SERVICE TO OTHERS
Mourners came together at the Washington National Cathedral on
March 16 to celebrate the life of former D.C. Bar President Tom
Williamson - lawyer, mentor, scholar, athlete, and friend -who
passed away on February 24. Williamson, whose remarkable career
spanned four decades, was a staunch advocate of access to justice
and pro bono service.

BLACKBURNE-RIGSBY TAKES
THE HELM AS CHIEF
Chief Judge Anna Blackburne-Rigsby takes her seat on the bench
as the 11th chief judge of the D.C. Court of Appeals following her
Investiture Ceremony on March 17. She replaces Judge Eric T.
Washington (pictured), who served 17 years on the Court of Appeals,
including 11 as chief.

RAISING MONEY, HOPE
FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR
FAMILIES
The Children's Law Center honored Clifford Chance US LLP, Dentons
(representatives of Dentons pictured), and Skadden, Arps, Slate,
Meagher & Flom LLP as its 2016 Champions for Children for their
2016 annual giving efforts. The campaign raised more than
$1 million in 2016 - a record-breaking effort - to help more
than 1,300 D.C. children and families.
