Retired Chief Judge Eric T. Washington of the D.C.
Court of Appeals has received the 2017 Harry L.
Carrico Award, one of the highest honors presented
by the National Center for State Courts... Gisela M.
Munoz has been selected by the Dade County Bar
Association as the recipient of both the Louise
Rebecca Pinnell Woman of Distinction Private
Practice Award (named for the first woman admitted
to the Florida Bar) and the Legal Luminaries Award in
the category of real estate development transactions. Munoz also was named by the Daily Business
Review as one of its 10 Top Women in Law in South
Florida... FH+H senior counsel Dean Popps has
joined the Ucore Rare Metals Inc. advisory board...
Baker Donelson, PC shareholder James M. Burns has
been appointed cochair of the Membership and
Diversity Committee of the American Bar Association
(ABA) Section of Antitrust Law... Amy L. Edwards

Sherman's book, Mergers and Acquisitions From A to Z,
will be published in early 2018... Diane Kiesel's book,
Domestic Violence: Law, Policy and Practice, 2nd Ed.,
a book of cases and materials written for use in
law school classrooms, was published by Carolina
Academic Press... Brian Gilmore has written "What
Are the Poor Doing Tonight: Incorporating Social
Justice Into the Law School Ethos," published by the
Seattle Journal of Social Justice (Seattle Law School),
fall 2016 issue... Stephen C. Leckar's article "When
Should Trial Judges Consider Constraining a
Defendant's Right to Self-Representation?" was
published in the fall 2017 edition of Judicature
magazine... Joel Miller has completed the
second edition of The Patent Trial and Appeal Board:
Advocacy and Practice, a procedural manual and
guide for trials and appeals at the USPTO's PTAB.
